Born in Catalonia, Spain and now based in France's Chamonix Valley, sports and nature have always played a major role in David’s life. Catalonia’s famous climbing areas and the snowy peaks of the Pyrenees offered him a perfect playground to hone his mountain skills at an early age. David soon started competing in snowboard freeride circuits around the world, with his first big accomplishment coming at the Rip Curl Heli Challenge in New Zealand where he took first place. His growing interest in freeride snowboarding and ski mountaineering eventually kickstarted a passion-fueled career as an IFMGA Certified Mountain Guide. David's desire to chase big mountain lines has resulted in several expeditions to the world's 8,000m peaks. In 2000 he first discovered the Himalayas, summiting and descending from Mera Peak (6,476m) in Nepal. In 2002 he returned and summited Shishapangma (8,027m) in Tibet and rode from Camp 3. In 2004 he snowboarded the technical part known as "The Banana" on Gasherbrum II (8,035m) in Pakistan. Many other snowboard expeditions followed, including Chimborazo and Cotopaxi in Ecuador (2x) and Denali in Alaska (2x). David has also climbed big walls like the Scottish Route on Bhagirathi III in India, the SE Face of the Lotus Flower Tower in the Cirque of the Unclimbables in Canada, El Capitan and Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, USA, and countless others in the Alps. As a mountain guide, David loves to work as much as possible with the rope. Long climbs in the Alps like Peuterey Integral, Diable Ridge, Kuffner Ridge, Traverse Royal of Mont Blanc, Dru Traverse, Jorasses Traverse, etc are his favorites. Outside of the Alps, David guides ski touring and heli skiing in the Spanish Pyrenees and Kaçkar Mountains of Turkey, and has worked with clients on expeditions in South America and the Himalayas, where he and his clients climbed without supplementary oxygen on Amadablam's SE Ridge, Mera Peak, Island Peak, Himlung Himal (7,126m), Manasulu (8,163m) and Cho Oyu (8,188m). Recently he has also been leading mountain guide trainings in Spain, preparing the next generation of Spanish guides. David loves his job and loves to share his passion for skiing and climbing, as well as his home mountains which he will do as lead guide for our 2024 Spanish Pyrenees expedition. He speaks Catalan, Spanish, English and French.
